LEAD the Coast provides an opportunity for interested residents and future leaders to grow their knowledge about the current coastal crisis, future needs and opportunities in order to facilitate parish and state-wide changes in mitigation, adaption, migration and resilience policies. The goal of this training is to offer a learning space for residents to share information and sharpen skills that will build power for resident-led change. Bayou Interfaith Shared Community Organizing (BISCO), in partnership with Foundation for Louisiana (FFL) is looking for participants willing to learn about our environment with an appetite for problem solving, one who is courageous in the face of challenges across Louisiana and excited to turn issues into opportunities. Skills from this training will be useful for other work where residents may be involved. The information will break down the science, policies and realities facing Louisiana’s coastal communities. This program will provide payment for participation, childcare, breakfast and lunch each day and cover travel expenses.

LEAD the Coast is a part of Foundation for Louisiana’s TOGETHER Initiative. The TOGETHER Initiative was developed by the foundation and its funding partners to strengthen Louisiana’s communities through a three-pronged approach: leadership development through the LEAD Training Program, community engagement through the equity caucus and the development of equitable Public Policy through an annual grant cycle.
